Basic bank accounts for people with bad credit history
Have you recently moved to the UK from Poland, South Africa, Latvia orLithuania.
If you have you won’t have a credit history here in the UK. Most UK banks are looking for people with a good income and a good credit score who they can sell additional products and services to, including mortgages, pensions, insurance and credit cards, so what do other people do who can’t do a credit check? Well, the reality is the most of the UK high street banks offer a basic bank account.
No credit check guaranteed with a basic account!
check and your bad credit history if you have any will not be taken into consideration. Most of these bank accounts allow standing orders and direct debits, but they have high fees if you were to go into a un authorised overdraft. Abbey, Natwest, Co-operative bank and Barclays all do some sort of non status bank accounts where you only need government issued proof of ID to get the account.

Any suggestions anyone, I have been turned down by HSBC and Barclays for a current account and card. They won’t tell me why I have been refused except to say that I had a poor credit score. I have never had any CCJs pr late payments. But last year someone fraudulently opened up a credit card with AMEX with my details and ran up an £8000 bill. I think I might haqve been a victim of identity fraud. Anyway I need to open a basic bank account. Who will open one for me if I have a bad credir history? Thanks sue
I think there is definately a place for basic bank accounts for people with bad credit or second chance bank accounts as well call therm in the USA.
Sometimes people fall into finnacial difficulty, yet if they are in full time employment they still need to have a working bank account and should not be penalised.
Can someone tell me the difference between a basic bank account and a standard bank account.
Thanks David
